Recovering Rebels

I'm reading through Isaiah right now on my annual Bible plan. I love how the NLT makes chapter 53 (the suffering servant prophecy) so human and so personal. I literally cried when I read this part this morning:

"No one cared that he died without descendants,
that his life was cut short in midstream.
But he was struck down
for the rebellion of my people." (Isaiah 53:8 NLT)

I never considered that Jesus would suffer disappointment of never having a human family but he was a man. A person. Like us. Yet he was unjustly counted among criminals and rebels. I don't know I just feel so compelled to take holy communion so I will.... Right here in my hotel room in Birmingham, AL. Here's to all redeemed and recovering rebels. Cheers!
